MAAK Open Source License & Terms of Use

Bunker Supply Co., LLC (“Bunker®”) owns the trademark MAAK® and uses the term “Open Source” in a community-driven and maker-oriented sense, referring to public access for personal fabrication and customization, rather than unrestricted commercial or redistribution rights.

By downloading, accessing, modifying, or manufacturing any Bunker®-provided 3D files, CAD files, templates, or related assets (“Files”), you agree to the following terms:

1. PERSONAL USE LICENSE

Bunker grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

  • Download the files
  • 3D print or manufacture components for personal use
  • Modify the Files for your own non-commercial use
  • Use printed components with compatible MAAK® products

This license does not transfer ownership of the Files or any intellectual property rights.

2. COMMERCIAL USE RESTRICTIONS

You may NOT, without prior written permission from Bunker®:

  • Sell printed versions of the Files
  • Sell modified versions of the Files
  • Redistribute the Files
  • Upload the files to third-party marketplaces or repositories
  • Use the Files or derivatives for commercial manufacturing
  • Use MAAK®, Mission Awareness Accessory Kit®, branding, logos, or trademarks on products not manufactured or approved by Bunker®

This includes platforms such as etsy, eBay, Amazon, Printables, MakerWorld, Thingiverse, or similar services.

3. MODIFICATION & SHARING

You may create modified versions of the files for personal use.

If you share modified versions publicly:

  • You must clearly state that the design is unofficial and not affiliated with MAAK®
  • You may not use MAAK® trademarks, logos, or branding in a way that implies endorsement
  • You may not sell or commercially distribute modified versions without written permission

4. SAFETY DISCLAIMER

3D printed and user-manufactured components may fail under stress, heat, impact, wear, or improper printing conditions.

You acknowledge that:

  • You are solely responsible for the quality, materials, printer settings, assembly, and use of any manufactured part.
  • Bunker® does not guarantee the safety, strength, durability, or fitness of user-manufactured components
  • Use of printed parts is at your own risk.

Bunker® is not liable for injury, property damage, equipment damage, product failure, or any consequential damages arising from use of the Files or printed components.

5. NO WARRANTY

The Files are provided “AS IS” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantibility
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Performance or compatibility

6. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All Files, designs, branding, and related content remain the intellectual property of Bunker® unless otherwise stated.

Nothing in these terms grants ownership of any Bunker® intellectual property.

7. TERMINATION

Bunker® reserves the right to revoke this license at any time for violation of these terms.

Upon termination, you must cease redistribution of the Files and commercial use of any derivatives.

8. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By downloading, using the Files, or purchasing Open Source products, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to these Terms of Use.
